In the past couple of summer transfer windows, Bayern Munich has completed many shrewd transfer deals. The pandemic and general inflation of transfer fees have seen Rekordmeister look for bargains with few big-money signings here and there.

Free transfers have even bigger value in the current climate as clubs continue to recover from the losses suffered due to the pandemic. Bayern Munich did sign two free transfers last summer in Omar Richards and Sven Ulreich. The Bavarian club could add a significant addition in midfield on a free transfer next year, as per one Italian report.

According to Calicomercato, Die Roten is closely following the situation of Marcelo Brozovic at Inter Milan. The Italian club is keen on extending the contract of Croatian midfielder, but the likes of Bayern and Paris Saint-Germain are looking to take advantage of this situation to sign him on a free transfer. This report insists that Brozovic is keeping all options as Inter press ahead with contract talks.

Brozovic has been subject to interest from Rekordmeister in the past. The Croatian midfielder has been one of the best midfielders in Serie A during the past few seasons. Brozovic also played a key role in Inter’s title win in 2020/21, which was also Inter’s first league title in a decade.

The Croatian midfielder can operate as a number six or eight in the central midfielder. His immense passing range and press-resistant nature help him to play a big role when the team is looking to play out from the back. The Croatian international is a delight to watch when he is in full flow.

On a free transfer, Brozovic will be a significant signing for Die Roten. He will bring vital experience and quality to the midfield. The German Champions can deploy Joshua Kimmich in a deeper role if Brozovic is deployed in a deeper role.

The only downside of Brozovic’s signing is his age. The Croatian midfielder will turn 29. While he still has a few years left in his peak, but his signing cannot be considered as part of the club’s long-term plans. However, he will bring a lot of quality to the club’s already strong midfield.

If Inter fails to find a breakthrough in contract talks with Brozovic in the next two months, then Die Roten can start negotiating with him in January. Since Corentin Tolisso and Marc Roca are expected to leave in January/summer, Bayern will be looking to get a replacement sorted early. Brozovic does offer that opportunity as he can sign a pre-contract agreement in January.
