Karim Adeyemi has been the main talking point in terms of transfers for Bayern Munich in the past few weeks. The youngster is wanted by the defending Bundesliga champions, but the latest update from Germany is not promising as other clubs leapfrog them in the race to complete this transfer.
According to Sky Sports in Germany, Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain are ahead in the race to sign Adeyemi from Red Bull Salzburg. The representative of the young forward has been holding talks with numerous top clubs across Europe in the past few weeks.
The update from Sky Sports is also confirmed by Spox. Moreover, Spox does suggest that Adeyemi’s representatives are worried about consistent playing time in Bavaria, which could eventually halt the progress of the young forward. This report also confirms that Adeyemi is tilting towards a move to Bundesliga, which makes Dortmund favorite to land him.
Die Roten has been heavily linked with Adeyemi since the start of the season. The youngster got even more limelight after he scored his first goal for the German National team. He has been scoring goals week in week out for RB Salzburg, which has made him one of the coveted young forwards in Europe.
One of the German reports suggested that Bayern was looking to accelerate the deal for the youngster and avoid bidding war by signing him in January. However, Salzburg has ruled out a transfer away from Austria in the winter transfer window.
The concerns of Adeyemi’s representatives are justified as Die Roten currently has top-class options in attack. Adeyemi will be competing with Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala, and Leroy Sane on the flanks, while Thomas Muller and Robert Lewandowski will provide him competition in central positions. The departure of Kingsley Coman would have opened a slot for Adeyemi in the squad.
If Adeyemi wants to be a guaranteed starter every weekend, then a move to Bavaria could be viable in the future. The likes of Dortmund and even Leipzig can give him more playing time than Die Roten. He has developed well at Salzburg by playing regularly, so it is not surprising to see him prioritizing more playing time in his next move over other factors.
Adeyemi was reportedly part of contingency plans to replace Coman next summer. The Bavarian club may have to turn their attention to other targets to fill the possible void left by the French winger. Coman is nowhere close to signing a new deal, so Bayern will look to cash in next summer.
