Niklas Sule

Bayern’s defense didn’t have a good month, but Niklas Sule looked solid for the majority of the games he played during October. The German defender is enjoying an upturn in form under Julian Nagelsmann after largely disappointing last 18 months.

Sule was one of the better performers for Die Roten during the defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt. He was sublime against Leverkusen and also bagged an assist to his name. The German international has been lately much braver on the ball after Nagelsmann insisted that there are few more gears left in Sule’s passing.

The German defender played most of the minutes against Benfica and Hoffenheim, helping the team to collect two consecutive clean sheets. Along with improvement on the ball, Sule’s positioning has been much better than last 18 months.

Sule was rested against Gladbach, but the poor state of defense saw him replace Dayot Upamecano in the second half. It hardly changed things for the team in terms of result, but it did suggest that Sule is currently the most in-form and consistent central defender in this squad. The German club will definitely have to rethink his contract situation as he continues to get better with every passing week.
