Bayern Munich: Niklas Sule subject to interest from Newcastle United
The last couple of weeks have been dominated by Newcastle United in European football as the English club has been taken over by PIF from Saudi Arabia. The English club is expected to invest a tremendous amount of money in coming years, so numerous players have been linked with a move to Tyneside in January. Bayern Munich could also reportedly see one player leaving them to join Newcastle next summer.
According to Christian Falk of SportBild, Newcastle United is interested in signing Niklas Sule from Bayern. The German defender has less than nine months left on his current deal. Moreover, he will be free to negotiate with interested clubs in January.
Sule and Die Roten have reportedly delayed talks for a new contract. Numerous German reports have suggested that Sule is more likely to leave Bavaria this summer. The German international refused to give anything away about his future in a recent interview as he is keeping all options open.
Niklas Sule has reportedly tried to engineer a move to Premier League in the past. Newcastle United can finally provide this opportunity and make him one of the key signings of the new owners at the club. From a financial perspective, Sule can also command hefty wages if he decides to negotiate with Newcastle United.
From a sporting perspective, Sule can do much better at this stage of his career. As he enters the prime of his career, the German defender should be playing in the Champions League. There is no doubt about Newcastle being an ambitious project, but the English club is likely to take some time to challenge for big trophies.
Moreover, Sule will be a free agent. In the current transfer market, free transfers have an even bigger demand since clubs are struggling with finances due to the pandemic. If Sule decides to walk away from Die Roten, he will have many suitors, including the top clubs from the Premier League.
The Bavarian faithful and Julian Nagelsmann will be hoping that Sule and Die Roten reach an agreement over a new contract. The German defender has started strongly this season after Nagelsmann had laid down a challenge for him. Moreover, Sule is going to get better with time since he has just turned 26.
The next couple of months is likely to see Sule linked with numerous clubs. The German Champions should try to conclude this contract saga one way or the other before the winter window. If Sule continues to perform better, more clubs will join Newcastle United in the race for his signature.
