The performances of Karim Adeyemi for Red Bull Salzburg and Germany have been attracting a lot of attention from top European clubs. Bayern Munich and other top Bundesliga clubs are closely following the situation of the youngster. However, the latest update from Germany suggests that Die Roten has suffered a setback in this transfer.
According to Patrick Berger of Sport1, Borussia Dortmund is leading the race for Karim Adeyemi after positive talks with his representatives. The German forward has been subject to interest from RB Leipzig, Bayern, and Dortmund.
Apart from Sport1, Sky Sports in Germany is also reporting that Dortmund and Leipzig are ahead in the race for the signing of Adeyemi. The German media outlet also confirmed that Liverpool is also interested in the young forward.
Adeyemi has been linked with Die Roten for quite some time. However, the likes of RB Leipzig and Dortmund are likely to offer better assurances in terms of consistent playing time. The youngster has enjoyed a very good development trajectory at Salzburg by playing regularly in the senior team, so he will be eyeing similar conditions to take the next step in his career.
Die Roten currently has tremendous competition in the attacking positions. Robert Lewandowski continues to score goals for fun, so he will keep on starting the majority of the games over a season. On the flanks, Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala, and Kingsley Coman provide great quality. In such a scenario, Adeyemi’s game time might not be as consistent as he got at RB Salzburg.
However, the emergence and development of Jamal Musiala in the last 18 months should encourage Adeyemi to move to Bavaria. Moreover, the future of Coman at Die Roten is uncertain as he may reportedly leave Bavaria next summer for a move to the Premier League.
With the development of Jadon Sancho, Gio Reyna, and Erling Haaland in the past few seasons, Dortmund also has a strong case for Adeyemi. He may start almost every other game at BVB next summer since Haaland is expected to be on the move next summer.
Bayern will suffer a massive blow if Adeyemi goes to one of their rivals. The Bavarian club is looking to strengthen the German core of the squad, which makes Adeyemi an ideal transfer target. The defending German Champions were reportedly looking to complete a deal as soon as January 2022, but recent developments do suggest that the young forward is more likely to join another Bundesliga club.
