Usual rotation in the defense for Bayern Munich

Manuel Neuer will be looking to make it two Champions League clean sheets in a row when he starts against Kyiv on Wednesday. The German goalkeeper has not been consistently kept busy in the goal this season, which is a testament to good performances from the team in front of him.

Nagelsmann has been rotating the back four well in the past few weeks. He has been giving almost equal playing time to Dayot Upamecano, Niklas Sule, and Lucas Hernandez. All three center-backs have made the most out of opportunities by delivering solid performances in different competitions.

On Wednesday, the German manager might end up playing Upamecano and Hernandez in the heart of the defense. Sule has started the last three games in a row, so he is likely to get a breather on Wednesday. Moreover, Hernandez will also get his first Champions League start of the campaign.

Benjamin Pavard will definitely start in the right-back position on Wednesday. The French defender is suspended for the next two league games after receiving a straight red card against Freuth on Friday. Since he will miss the weekend’s game against Eintracht Frankfurt, there is no point resting him against Kyiv. Meanwhile, Alphonso Davies will slot in the left-back position.
