The good run of form and results continued for Bayern Munich on Friday as they clinched a 3-1 win against Greuther Furth on matchday 6 of the Bundesliga. It was an impressive win as Rekordmeister played with ten men for the majority of the second half. Rekordmeister temporarily go three points courtesy of this victory. Here are the complete ratings from the game.
Manager Rating
Julian Nagelsmann — 8/10
Nagelsmann got the team set up on the money when Pavard was sent off. The team managed to reduce Furth to minimum shots despite being a man down. The German manager’s move to use Davies as wide forward also worked a treat.
Player Ratings
GK, Manuel Neuer — 7/10
Neuer had a quiet evening as he was hardly troubled in the game. A superb late double save did deny Furth midway through the second half, but one moment of poor coordination at the back late in the game cost Die Roten and Neuer a clean sheet.
DEF, Benjamin Pavard — 5/10
Pavard had a night to forget. The French defender fared well in the first half, but a reckless challenge early in the second half reduced the visiting team to ten men.
DEF, Niklas Sule —7.5/10
Sule continues to enjoy a good season as he delivered a near-perfect performance against Furth. The German defender did a great job while slotting in the right-back position after the dismissal of Pavard.
DEF, Dayot Upamecano — 7/10
Upamecano returned to the starting lineup on Friday and continues his good start to life as a Bayern player. Apart from a couple of lapses in concentration, the Frenchman was largely untroubled throughout the game in the heart of the defense.
DEF, Lucas Hernandez — 7/10
Hernandez excelled in both roles that he was assigned against Furth. He combined well with Davies in the first half on the left flank, and eventually fared well in the heart of the defense after Bayern were down to ten men.
MID, Joshua Kimmich — 8/10
Kimmich continues to remain Mr. Consistent for Bayern in the center of the park. The German international dictated the midfield and showed great precision to score from the edge of the box.
MID, Leon Goretzka — 8/10
The German midfielder was at his best in the box-to-box role against Furth. His late runs in the box were giving numerical superiority to Die Roten in the attack. The German midfielder also made an important clearance at the end of the half to stop Furth from halving the deficit. The only thing lacking for Goretzka was a goal on the night.
FWD, Leroy Sane — 8/10
Sane continues to get better with every passing game. The German international was often occupying central areas of the pitch and linking up play in the final third. His presence of mind helped in setting up the goal for Joshua Kimmich.
FWD, Thomas Muller — 8.5/10
Muller created history against Furth as he became the third top scorer in the club’s history by opening the scoring on Friday. The German hammered the ball past the goalkeeper after Davies squared him the ball at the edge of the box.
FWD, Alphonso Davies — 8/10
Davies was creating all sorts of problems for Furth in the final third. On a rare occasion, Davies got the opportunity to play as forward and he made the most of it. He grabbed the assist for Muller’s goal and played a big role in the second goal. Davies seamlessly slotted in the left-back position after Pavard was sent off early in the second half.
ST, Robert Lewandowski —7/10
Lewandowski worked hard throughout the game but after a long run since February, he finally had a game without getting on the scoresheet. He came close in the first half as his acrobatic effort rattled the woodwork. The Polish striker did well to put pressure on Furth’s Sebastian Griesbeck that eventually led to an own goal.
Substitutes
MID, Marcel Sabitzer —7/10
Sabitzer provided more energy and intensity to help Die Roten to press well with ten men. His final pass was not up to the mark, but his performances are likely to improve as he gets to know more about his teammates on the pitch.
FWD, Serge Gnabry —7/10
The German winger had a good 15-minute cameo in the second half, but he couldn’t get himself on the score sheet.
DEF, Josip Stanisic —N/A
The youngster came on for Niklas Sule for the final few minutes of the game.
FWD, Jamal Musiala —N/A
Musiala had very little time to make an impact as he came on for the final five minutes of the game.
