Bayern Munich poured on the goals on Saturday afternoon at the Allianz Arena. Die Roten scored seven goals en route to a dominant 7-0 clean sheet win over VfL Bochum. The hosts enjoyed a commanding 4-0 lead at halftime and went on to score three more goals in the second half to record their fourth victory of the 2021/22 Bundesliga season. Here are five key stats from the win.

Robert Lewandowski can’t stop scoring

According to OptaFranz, Lewandowski has scored in 13 consecutive Bundesliga home matches. This is a new league record as he surpasses Gerd Muller and Jupp Heynckes who both recorded 12 match consecutive scoring streaks in home matches. The Bayern striker continues to set new standards for the Bundesliga.

Goals, goals, and more goals

It only took Bayern five matches to reach the 20 mark goal mark in the Bundesliga. With their seven goals on Saturday, Die Roten now have scored exactly 20 goals this season and conceded just four times. They are averaging four goals per match which is currently the best average in the German top flight.

The 20 goals scored is less than the number of goals they registered in their first five league fixtures last season. They scored 22 goals in their first five Bundesliga matches during the 2020/21 campaign. However, after this strong start last season, Bayern would not score more than four goals in a match until Matchday 14. It will be interesting to see if Die Roten is able to continue to score goals at this high rate or if they will begin to be held to lower totals after Matchday Five which was the storyline last season.

Leroy Sane’s strong form continues

A free-kick goal and an assist were Sane’s contributions to Bayern’s victory over Bochum. The winger has now scored three goals and recorded five assists in his last five appearances in all competitions for Bayern. He continues to be one of the top offensive performers for Die Roten in recent weeks.

Lewandowski is on pace for another big season

With his goal on Saturday, Lewandowski now has seven Bundesliga goals in five matches played. He is currently averaging 1.6 goals per 90 minutes played which is slightly higher than last season’s average of 1.5 goals per 90 minutes. He is on pace to surpass the 41 goal total he registered last season and it could very well turn out to be an even more impressive campaign than the previous season.

Strong defensive record

Bayern has registered four clean sheets in their last five matches in all competitions. During these five matches, Bayern has done a very good job of limiting shots on target. They have allowed just nine shots on target during this five-match stretch of the season. Against Bochum, just one shot on target was recorded by the visitors.
