Bayern Munich is set to face VfL Bochum on Matchday Five of the 2021/22 Bundesliga season. The newly-promoted side will travel to Munich in search of a shock result as they look to upset the defending champions. It will be no easy task for the visitors as there are plenty of Bayern players in top form at the moment. Here are five players to watch for in this fixture.

Robert Lewandowski

The reigning Bundesliga top scorer has scored in every single league match he’s played in this season. With six goals in four appearances, Lewandowski leads the Bundesliga in goals scored. After scoring a brace against Barcelona in the opening match of the UEFA Champions League group stage on Tuesday, the striker should be one of the key players who can lift Bayern to another three points.

Against Bochum, Lewandowski will be looking to increase his goal tally and register another multi-goal performance. He scored two goals against Bochum when Bayern played them in the quarterfinals of the 2015/16 DFB-Pokal. On Saturday, it could very well be another brace from the star striker.

Jamal Musiala

It’s been a great start to the campaign for Musiala. The 18-year-old has scored two goals and registered two assists in four Bundesliga appearances. On Matchday Four against RB Leipzig, he produced a goal and an assist to lead the way to victory. Whether he enters as a substitute or is a member of the starting 11 on Saturday, Musiala will be one of the in-form players to watch for in this match.

Simon Zoller

The offensive leader for Bochum so far this season has been Zoller. He has started the campaign well with two goals and two assists in the Bundesliga. Zoller is no stranger to scoring goals as he recorded 15 goals in the second division last season. This will be one player who Bayern will have to defend well as he is capable of not only being the source of goals but also the provider of goals. If Bochum is able to keep the scoreline close in this fixture then it will likely be due to the impact Zoller has.

Thomas Muller

Muller is the only current Bayern player who has scored three goals or more against Bochum. The veteran has recorded four goals and one assist during his career against the newly-promoted side. With two goals and one assist in his last three appearances for Bayern, Muller’s form is trending upwards and he could very well score his fifth career goal against Bochum on Saturday.

Alphonso Davies

The Canadian left-back has been causing problems for opponents in the Bundesliga this season. His incredible pace has helped him skyrocket to the top of the leaderboards in the German top-flight when it comes to players dribbled past and progressive carries. Davies has been finding himself in positions to deliver assists and he has done just that with two assists in his two league appearances. If Bochum becomes the latest club that struggles to contain Davies then he should be able to have a major impact on the outcome of the match. (Stats courtesy: fbref)
