Even though the transfer window ended earlier this month, big clubs start planning for the next one. Bayern Munich is known for efficient long-term squad planning, so future transfer targets are most likely being considered by the club hierarchy.

During the summer transfer window, it was reported in Germany that Die Roten will look to add more German talent to the squad when the transfer market opens net summer. The Bavarian club will be eyeing moves for the talented young German players in the Bundesliga along with top-class international players.

Florian Wirtz is one of the German talents that are likely to attract the attention of Rekordmeister. The 18-year-old attacking midfielder has shone for Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. He has already earned the first cap for the German national team, courtesy of his good performances at the club level.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Bayern is keenly following the situation of Wirtz at Leverkusen. He also confirms that Wirtz has no release clause in his contract at Leverkusen that expires in 2026. Apart from Rekordmeister, top English clubs are also interested in the young attacking midfielder.

Die Roten will be eager to sign Wirtz after missing out on Kai Havertz last summer. The German forward was heavily linked with a move to Bavaria, but eventually, Chelsea came up with a big offer to sign him. Rekordmeister decided to sign Leroy Sane from Manchester City to strengthen the wide positions.

Wirtz is also likely to have a similar career trajectory like Havertz at Leverkusen. Both of them went on to become mainstays in the first team after getting an early debut with the senior team. However, Havertz is a much more versatile attacking player, while Wirtz has largely operated as an attacking midfielder.

The teenager has started the new campaign with Leverkusen in the best possible way, scoring twice and creating three goals in three Bundesliga games. Wirtz also grabbed an assist for Germany during the international break. Die Roten currently has a strong German spine, with Manuel Neuer and Thomas Muller as the leaders in the team. Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka have also committed long-term futures to the club. The German core of the squad will get even better if they manage to sign Wirtz from Leverkusen next summer.
