Bayern Munich Frauen defeated Freiburg 4-0 on Saturday to remain undefeated in the Frauen-Bundesliga. The final match before the September international break saw Lea Schuller lead the way to victory as she registered her first brace of the season. Defensively, this was another clean sheet for Bayern who have yet to concede a goal this season. With three victories from three matches, the first few weeks of the season have gone very well for Bayern Munich in their pursuit of another league title.

How it unfolded

It didn’t take long before the first goal of the match was scored. Lina Magull scored in just the third minute to give Die Roten an early lead. Schuller would double the host’s advantage in the 17th minute with her first goal of the match. In the second half, the Bavarian club would record two more goals to pull away from the visitors. Glodis Peria Viggosdottir scored in the 66th minute and Schuller in the 89th minute.

An incredible goal record

According to OptaFranz, Bayern has scored in 26 consecutive Frauen-Bundesliga fixtures which ties their own club record. During this 26 match scoring streak, they have scored exactly 100 goals which is an incredible statistic as they have averaged just under four goals per match. Already this season alone they have recorded 15 goals in just three matches. They are currently on pace to score over 100 goals this season if they continue to average five goals per match.

Schuller adds to her goal total

Schuller has now scored four goals in her three Frauen-Bundesliga appearances. The Germany international is the outright leader in goals scored on Bayern’s squad and is among the leaders in the entire league. She is off to a terrific start compared to last season’s campaign when she scored just three goals in her first ten league appearances. If Schuller continues on this pace then she will certainly finish this season with over 20 goals scored.

Magull is also emerging as an early offensive leader for Bayern. The 27-year-old has three goals in three appearances and is just three goals away from bettering her 2020/21 Frauen-Bundesliga total of five goals. Magull is no stranger when it comes to consistently scoring goals as she recorded a double-digit scoring campaign for Freiburg during the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons.
