Bayern Munich vs FC Koln: Predicted XI in first home game of the season
Midfield and Attack picks itself for Bayern
There is no particular selection headache for Nagelsmann in midfield and attack for the game against FC Koln. Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka will be starting in the midfield after featuring against Gladbach and Dortmund.
Corentin Tolisso shone during his second-half cameo against Dortmund on Tuesday. However, the French midfielder will have to slowly build on fitness to be in contention to start a game. Tolisso had missed the entire pre-season training after testing positive for coronavirus in July.
Ahead of Kimmich and Goretzka, Thomas Muller will start in the attacking midfield position. The German international opened his account for the season with a goal against Dortmund on Tuesday. Muller’s immaculate pressing and ability to create space for others in the final third is crucial for Nagelsmann’s philosophy.
Kingsley Coman is set to miss the game against Koln due to hamstring problems. The French winger will be replaced by Leroy Sane in the starting lineup. Serge Gnabry will occupy the other flank, while Robert Lewandowski will be looking to add more goals to his tally when he will be leading the line.
