Bayern Munich: Predicted team for DFL Supercup against Dortmund
Straightforward selection in midfield and attack
Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka fared well against Gladbach. The German midfield duo will be starting against Dortmund on Tuesday. Both players will have to make sure that Dortmund forwards don’t get the ball in dangerous positions on a consistent basis. Kimmich will also have the onus of dictating play from the deep.
The lack of depth in central midfield is pretty evident at Die Roten. Mickael Cuisance is not part of the long-term plans of the club as they are ready to listen to permanent offers for him. Meanwhile, Roca is recovering from a serious injury that he suffered during pre-season training.
Corentin Tolisso has travelled with the squad, but he is unlikely to start. The Frenchman may leave the club before the end of the transfer window. In such a scenario, Goretzka and Kimmich have to play every game. The potential arrival of Marcel Sabitzer will give Nagelsmann more options in the midfield.
There could be one change in the attack on Tuesday. Kingsley Coman looked lively during his cameo against Gladbach on Friday. The French winger could replace Leroy Sane in the lineup against Dortmund, while Serge Gnabry starts on the other flank. Robert Lewandowski will lead the line for the German Champions.
