Bayern Munich hammer Augsburg at Allianz Arena- Player Ratings
Lewandowski breaks the record
ST, Robert Lewandowski — 9/10
Lewandowski was hungry for the goal from the first half. He made the right runs, but his finishing was just not up to the mark. The chances dried up late in the second half. It did feel inevitable that the Polish striker will be stuck at 40 goals. However, the Polish striker didn’t give up and finally got the reward for his persistence in the final minute of the game. He showed great awareness to pounce on the spillage from Augsburg’s goalkeeper. It was not the most beautiful goal, but a historic one as the Polish striker now holds the record of most goals in a single Bundesliga campaign.
Substitutes
MID, Javi Martinez —7 /10
Martinez came on to replace Boateng in his final appearance for Die Roten. The Spaniard was tidy on the ball and kept things tight at the back. He was supporting the attack in the dying minutes of the game as everyone in the team was trying to create one big chance for Lewandowski.
FWD, Leroy Sane — 7.5/10
After impressing against Freiburg last weekend, Sane was at his best against Augsburg. The German winger was putting dangerous crosses in the box. His powerful shot from the edge of the box led to Lewandowski’s 41st goal of the Bundesliga campaign.
FWD, Jamal Musiala — 6/10
Showed nice touches on the flanks, but couldn’t create big chances after replacing Coman at the hour mark.
FWD, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting —6 /10
Choupo-Moting was lively in the final third, but couldn’t convert chances presented to him. Nevertheless, it was an entertaining cameo where he had one big chance to get on the scoresheet.
MID, Corentin Tolisso — 6/10
In his brief cameo, Tolisso did show that he is completely fit now. The Frenchman played in the box-to-box role and often made some darting late runs to cause problems to Augsburg’s defense.
