Midfield dictated the proceedings against Augsburg

MID, David Alaba — 8/10

In his final appearance for Die Roten, Flick decided to deploy Alaba in the center of the park. The Austrian defender has been playing in this role during the last few game weeks in the Bundesliga. Alaba was up for it from minute one as he was making some dangerous runs in the box.

Alaba was very close to making his final appearance memorable as his effort early in the first half was just wide off the post. He also made some vital interventions to stop Augsburg from creating big chances in the final third. The Austrian defender got fitting applause when he was replaced by Corentin Tolisso in the second half.

MID, Joshua Kimmich — 8/10

Kimmich dominated the proceeding against Augsburg. He started slowly by misplacing few easy passes but grew into the game as the first half went on. The German midfielder played lovely diagonal passes to find wingers on both flanks.

The 25-year-old midfielder rounded off the first half with a superb strike from the box. He made it look effortless as the strike had the power and precision to beat the goalkeeper with ease. The second half also saw Kimmich dictating the flow of the game from a deeper role and helped his team to dominate possession.
