Bayern Munich hammer Augsburg at Allianz Arena- Player Ratings
Bayern Munich ended the season in style by giving a 5-2 hammering to Augsburg in the final game week of the Bundesliga on Saturday. There were numerous brilliant performances against Augsburg, so here is the complete breakdown of each performance on a remarkable day for the German Champions.
Manager Rating
Hansi Flick — 8/10
The win against Augsburg summed up Hansi Flick’s tenure at Bayern. The German manager got everything right in the final game apart from starting Javi Martinez. Nevertheless, an entertaining game where his team was hungry for goals showed Flick’s philosophy of dominating oppositions with great intensity.
Player Ratings
GK, Manuel Neuer — 8/10
Neuer was unfortunate to not break Oliver Kahn’s record on Saturday. He did everything possible to keep the clean sheet, including a penalty save, but lapses of concentration in the back four made sure Augsburg scored twice. Along with saving a penalty, Neuer pulled off a remarkable save at the start of the game to deny Daniel Caliguiri.
DEF, Benjamin Pavard — 6/10
Pavard was having a good game for Die Roten on Saturday until he made a mistake for Augsburg’s second goal. He was easily beaten by Florian Niederlechner to set up a one vs one battle with Neuer. While going forward Pavard was good, nothing extraordinary, nor poor.
DEF, Jerome Boateng — 8/10
In his final game for Bayern Munich, Jerome Boateng dropped a quality performance. The German defender was marvellous on the ball. He also got his positioning spot on when Augsburg was trying to hurt the home side on the break. The last two seasons have been phenomenal for Boateng, rounding off a successful tenure of ten years at the club.
DEF, Lucas Hernandez — 6/10
Apart from few moments of madness, Hernandez was fairly comfortable in the heart of the defense. He conceded a cheap penalty, but Neuer rescued him from this mistake. The Frenchman was also very good at carrying the ball whenever he was afforded the space by Augsburg.
DEF, Alphonso Davies — 7/10
Davies had a solid outing against Augsburg on Sunday. He was a menace in the final third, creating chances for Lewandowski and other forwards. His recovery pace also helped Die Roten while defending Augsburg’s counter-attacks.
