A dominant display from midfielders

MID, Joshua Kimmich — 7/10

Kimmich started the game in a deeper position as Alaba was given the box-to-box duties by Flick. The German midfielder was in cruise control as he is in most games while dictating the flow of the game. His short and long passing was crisp on Saturday.

When the team was pushing ahead and moving high up the pitch, Kimmich was consistently playing incisive passes between the ball. Even though he might not get the limelight for this game, it was one of the many complete and solid performances for the German midfielder in the Bundesliga.

MID, David Alaba — 7/10

David Alaba was once again given the role of playing in the midfield by Flick. The Austrian started on the left side of the midfield pivot and often went ahead to join the attack, while Kimmich was sitting in front of the defense.

Alaba looked supreme during his hour-long stay on the pitch. He often occupied left half-space to deliver dangerous crosses in the box. His first cross led to Die Roten’s first goal. With only two games left in his Bayern career, Alaba is expected to deliver such performances in the next two games.
