Poor afternoon for Bayern Munich forwards
FWD, Leroy Sane — 6/10
Leroy Sane came close to getting one goal for Die Roten in the first half when his curling effort from the edge of the box went just wide of the target. Apart from that shot, Sane was anonymous throughout the first half. The German winger has looked underconfident since the second leg against Paris Saint-Germain. Flick decided to bring him off for Jamal Musiala at halftime.
FWD, Thomas Muller — /10
Thomas Muller worked hard against Mainz, but things were not happening for the German forward. He reacted late when his man past him on a setpiece, which eventually lead to Mainz’s goal. Muller did deliver some dangerous crosses in the box, but it didn’t result in clear-cut chances. The two weeks break comes at the right time for Muller as he has been playing nonstop football in the last three weeks.
FWD, Kingsley Coman — 6/10
Kingsley Coman had a very frustrating afternoon against Mainz. The French winger looked lively in the final third, but his final pass was disappointing. On few occasions, he overcomplicated things and ended up losing the ball around the edge of the box. It was not surprising to see him come off at halftime since he looked tired and rusty throughout the first half.
