Using a false nine could be a better option for Bayern Munich

Flick decided to go with Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting as the number nine against RB Leipzig. The Cameroonian striker was at Sabner Strasse during the international break, so Flick decided to stick with him. However, the German manager would be better served in the next few weeks by deploying a false nine to replace Lewandowski.

Choupo-Moting didn’t have a spectacular game as he managed only three shots throughout the game. His work ethic cannot be questioned as he worked tirelessly for the team. However, having him as an option from the bench could be much better for Rekordmeister in the coming weeks. (Stats courtesy: Whoscored)

Leroy Sane, Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry, and Thomas Muller would be much fluid front four for Die Roten. All of them can keep interchanging positions throughout the game, causing havoc in the opposition defense.

In terms of false nine, Gnabry and Muller have the experience to play in this position. Gnabry has played that role for Germany, while Muller has done it for club and country in the past. Most importantly, this quartet is in the middle of good form. Playing them together would give Rekordmeister a better chance to smoothly navigate through big games in the absence of Lewandowski.
