Bayern Munich beat Borussia Dortmund in six goal thriller: Player Ratings
ST, Robert Lewandowski — 9 /10
Another game week, another big performance from Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker continued his dream run by scoring a hattrick against his former side. After Die Roten went two goals down, Lewandowski looked like a man on a mission as he made some darting runs in the box to take up brilliant positions. He took multiple shots throughout the game, causing chaos in Dortmund’s defense.
Eventually, his movement helped Die Roten to score the first goal, and late in the first half, he converted from the spot to score the equalizer. He settled the game by scoring Die Roten’s fourth game with a calm finish past the goalkeeper. Another productive performance from Lewandowski as he goes past 30 goal mark in the Bundesliga for this season.
Substitutes
FWD, Serge Gnabry — 7 /10
Gnabry provided more thrust to the attack with his clever runs. The German winger was linking up well with Muller and Lewandowski when the hosts were trying to open up BVB’s deep block. Unfortunately, these moves lacked the cutting edge due to Dortmund’s steely resolve.
DEF, Javi Martinez — 6/10
The Spanish defender slotted on the right-hand side of the defense after Boateng’s injury. He was tidy on and off the ball to help the team to pile on the pressure on Borussia Dortmund by sustaining the attacking moves.
DEF, Lucas Hernandez — N/A
Hernandez came on in the dying minutes as Bayern was looking to see out the game after Lewandowski scored the fourth goal.
DEF, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting — N/A
Choupo-Moting had very little time to make an impact on the pitch as he replaced Muller in the added time.
