Lots to play for in Der Klassiker

One of Bayern’s biggest league campaigns will take place on the first weekend of March as they host Borussia Dortmund on matchday 24. The last Der Klassiker was an intense game that was narrowly edged by Die Roten with a 3-2 victory.

Going into this game, Dortmund is not the title contender since they have dropped a lot of points since last meeting Die Roten. They are currently battling out for a place in the top four, sitting fifth in the table. The victory will be essential for Dortmund on Sunday to close the gap with Eintracht Frankfurt in the fourth position.

Meanwhile, the defending Bundesliga champions also need a victory to keep distance between them and RB Leipzig. It is not a season-defining game, but the team winning Der Klassiker will be getting a psychological edge for rest of the campaign.

Dortmund has improved in the last couple of gameweeks. They also won the first leg of the first knockout round of the Champions League away at Sevilla, so Die Roten will come up against a team high on confidence. It is going to be another high-octane clash, which is also likely to be the game of the month for Bayern.
