It eventually turned out to be a fruitful first month of the year for Bayern Munich as they remain top of the Bundesliga table. They stretched the lead at the top to seven points. February is going to be even more crucial for Hansi Flick’s men as the schedule is going to get much tighter due to participation in multiple competitions.

January was not plain sailing for Die Roten as they were knocked out of DFB Pokal against Holstein Kiel. It was a big blow to the club’s hopes of retaining all titles this season. Along with cup disappointment, Bayern also suffered a second league defeat of the season away at Borussia Monchengladbach.

There is still a lot of scope for improvement in the performances of Bayern. They have looked fatigued ever since the end of the international break in November. Flick’s team has endured slow starts in the game and struggled to sustain pressure in the final third for long periods.

By the end of January, there has been a slight improvement in performances as they managed to win three league games in a row. Ahead of a busy February, let us look at three things to watch out for in the shortest month of the year.
