Three things Hansi Flick can do to plug holes in the leaky Bayern Munich defense.

December was a challenging month for Bayern Munich. They did end the Hinrunde at the top of the table in the Bundesliga, but performances throughout the month were concerning. The team has looked sluggish, and the defense has been conceding goals. The attacking players have been bailing out the team in such instances to get positive results.

Winter break came at the right time for the team to regroup and get back to their best. However, the same problems have been distinctly visible in the past two weeks. The team conceded two goals in the first half against Mainz. They responded strongly in the second half to win the game. However, they couldn’t hold on to a two-goal lead away at Borussia Monchengladbach. Marco Rose’s team scored three quickfire goals to inflict second defeat of the campaign on Bayern.

The lowest point of the season came on Wednesday this week as Die Roten were knocked out of DFB Pokal by Holstein Kiel. The defensive aspect of the team’s game just cannot breathe relief at the moment as they consistently leak goals.

For the first time in 18 months, Hansi Flick finds his team going through a rough patch. It will be a test for the German manager to get them out of this rut. The defense could be the first area that Flick will be looking to address, so here are three possible things Flick can do to improve the backline.
