Bayern Munich: Four things to watch out for in 2021
Will Bayern continue to dominate in the Champions League?
The hallmark of last year’s Champions League title win was the sheer dominance of Die Roten in all games throughout the competition. Even though the scoreline in the final was 1-0, the game management of Die Roten was splendid for the majority of the second half to keep PSG quiet in the attack.
Similarly, there were big wins against Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspurs, and Barcelona throughout the competition. Along with outstanding players, Flick managed to devise a 4-2-3-1 system that was dominating some of the biggest teams in Europe.

Defending a CL title is very difficult and doing it by playing outstanding football takes even more effort. Die Roten started the CL title defense with a breathtaking 4-0 win against Atletico Madrid at Allianz Arena. They cruised through the group stage with five wins and one draw. With bigger tests awaiting in the knockout rounds, this squad’s mental strength and quality will be tested from February.
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has previously insisted that Bayern should win silverware by playing an attractive style of football. They managed to do that last season, so it will be interesting to see in 2021 whether they can sustain this quality this year too. Another dominating CL campaign will make sure that this Bayern squad will go down as one of the best in history.
