MID, Corentin Tolisso-6/10
Tolisso started in the midfield for the second consecutive match. He played 69 minutes against Wolfsburg on Wednesday and went 67 minutes against Leverkusen. Although he had one of the highest pass completion percentages in the match for Bayern, he misplaced a pass in the 45th minute that could have resulted in a goal-scoring opportunity for Bayern. However, it was an overall solid appearance for Tolisso. He finished with one tackle, one interception, and one clearance.
MID, David Alaba-7/10
It was a rare appearance in the midfield for Alaba this season. The Austrian defender showed his versatility by seamlessly slotting in the midfield department. Alaba was very efficient on the ball, breaking the lines consistently to move the ball quickly from midfield to attack. The 28-year-old often looked defensively vulnerable when Leverkusen was on the counter, though. He registered one key pass, one tackle, and one interception. Alaba helped put pressure on Jonathan Tah which resulted in his costly turnover that led to Lewandowski’s match-winning goal. Despite doing well in the midfield, it is unlikely to see Alaba playing there after the winter break since Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka will be fit to start games.
