Three matchups to watch when Bayern Munich travel to Bayer Leverkusen.

An eventful year for Bayern Munich is set to come with a blockbuster league game against Bayer Leverkusen. It is a top of the table clash as Leverkusen currently has a slight edge over Die Roten in the table. Both sides will be looking to end Hinrunde on a strong note when they meet at Bay Arena on Saturday.

Die Roten is currently in between a poor run of form by their usual high standards. They are yet to lose a game since the 4-1 defeat against Hoffenheim in September. However, they have won only one out of their last four league games. Draws against Werder Bremen, RB Leipzig, and Union Berlin have been frustrating for Flick’s men.

On Wednesday, Bayern made sure that they don’t drop points in three consecutive league games. It was a gritty performance against Wolfsburg at Allianz Arena. They had to suffer in the game as Wolfsburg were not giving up hope in the final third. The hosts eventually managed to grind out 2-1 win.

Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen is flying high in the league. They have won four out of their past five league games. The latest win came away at FC Koln on Thursday. A positive result on Saturday will mean that Peter Bosz will end Hinrunde at the top of the table. Both sides have some of the best players in the Bundesliga, so let us look at three key matchups in this game.
