After winning the treble, teams tend to suffer a dip in performance levels. However, consistent success has always been on the agenda for Die Roten. Emulating last season’s heroics will need more than the quality of players and tactics. There should be no air of complacency in the squad, and the ruthless streak should be maintained despite winning all trophies.

Flick is an astute man-manager, so one can expect him to keep the feet of all players on the ground and get the best out of them consistently. The first Champions League game of the season was the ideal test for the team as they came up against Atletico Madrid at Allianz Arena.

The defending champions showed hunger and passion during the game against the Spanish side. They fought valiantly to clinch an emphatic 4-0 win against one of the most defensively resolute teams in Europe. This performance showed that Flick’s men want more success, and they are going to do everything possible to retain all trophies.

The win against Atletico Madrid can set a precedent for this campaign. Apart from a blip away at Hoffenheim, the German club has enjoyed a good start to the new season. Flick has the qualities to turn this group of players into serial winners, hunting down every possible trophy.
