Joshua Kimmich continues to deliver clutch moments

Ever since moving to the midfield last season, Joshua Kimmich has contributed to fewer goals and assists since he occupies much deeper positions on the pitch. When he was playing as a right-back, he provided dynamism on the right flank through his accurate passing and crossing.

Despite moving to a deeper position, Kimmich has the habit of coming with crucial goals when the team desperately needs one. He managed to do it against Lokomotiv Moscow on Tuesday when other forwards were finding it difficult to score the winner.

After receiving the ball on half-turn at the edge of the box, Kimmich’s sublime first touch helped in setting him up to smash the ball on the volley. His volley was not the most powerful volleys, but the positioning of the shot was sublime, giving the goalkeeper very little chance of saving it.

Last season, he found the back of the net in Der Klassiker and DFB Pokal quarterfinal against Schalke that proved to be match-winning goals. In Europe, Kimmich scored away at Tottenham Hotspurs when the team was trailing. He is not only one of the most consistent players for Bayern, but also a player Flick can always rely on to come up with big goals that will win games.
