Team News for FC Bayern Munich

Leroy Sane is close to making a return after suffering a knee injury last month. The German winger will not feature against Atletico Madrid, but reports in Germany suggest that his recovery is going well, allowing him to be fit to face Eintracht Frankfurt later this week.

Tanguy Kouassi is another player that is currently recovering from a muscle injury. The French defender was picture training on the grass this week, so his return to first-team training is not far. Along with Sane, he will also watch the game from the stands on Wednesday.

Serge Gnabry is set to miss the game after being tested positive for coronavirus. The German winger will have to isolate for the next two weeks. Joshua Kimmich will be back in the squad on Wednesday. The German midfielder missed the game against Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday since his wife was going into labour. Since Kimmich had an ample amount of rest since featuring for Germany, he is likely to get a start against Atletico Madrid.

Hansi Flick confirmed that there are no other injury worries ahead of the game against Atletico Madrid. The German manager has been cautious with the workload management this season till now as players are bound to have muscle injuries due to the accumulation of fatigue. He has been carefully managing Alphonso Davies after he enjoyed a breakthrough season.
