FC Bayern Munich kick-off the Champions League campaign against Atletico Madrid.

The Champions League football is back. FC Bayern Munich is set to kick off their title defense on Wednesday at Allianz Arena against Atletico Madrid. It is going to be a fascinating start to the campaign as two of the best teams in the competition will play each other.

Hansi Flick has enjoyed a good start to the campaign. Die Roten will find it difficult to better next season, but they can make history by retaining all trophies. Real Madrid has achieved this feat twice in the last decade, so it is not an entirely impossible task. A strong start to CL campaign will set the tone for Die Roten in Europe.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid is looking to break the duck and finally win the CL under Diego Simeone. They have come close twice but suffered defeats against arch-rivals Real Madrid in the final. Similar to Die Roten, Simeone will also hope to start the campaign strongly.

In the previous meetings, Bayern had an even record against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. They have won two and lost two. The stakes are not high in the first game, but it is going to be an intriguing clash on Wednesday.
