Bayern Munich set to face an intriguing battle against Sevilla in Supercup.

The new campaign began just five days ago, but Bayern Munich already has a chance to get their hands on silverware. The Champions League winners travelled to Budapest on Wednesday for Thursday’s game against Sevilla in UEFA Supercup.

Die Roten did manage to win this trophy in 2013 against Chelsea. A tight affair that was eventually decided on penalties. With a sublime performance against Schalke last weekend, Rekordmeiester would prefer a much straightforward victory on Thursday.

Sevilla has been masters of winning the Europa League. They have won the tournament for a record six times in this century. After winning Europa League, they have won the Supercup only once, way back in 2006. The Spanish side did fairly well against big clubs in Europa League last season, so Die Roten should gear up for an intriguing clash.

Hansi Flick has been tactically astute in big games across Europe, including the narrow 1-0 win against Paris Saint-Germain. Meanwhile, Julien Lopetegui enjoyed redemption with Sevilla after disappointing spells with Real Madrid and the Spanish National team. The two coaches have show ample pedigree in August to win silverware, setting up a mouthwatering UEFA Supercup tie.
