Lifting the Champions League title after six years

First moment surely has to be the night in Lisbon last month. Die Roten has been facing disappointment in Europe for six seasons in a row. Last year, it was their lowest point in the competition as they were knocked out in the round of 16 by Liverpool.

At one point, going deep in the CL looked uncertain due to the nature of performances. However, Flick’s arrival changed the scenario for the German Champions. They went from strength to strength in the last ten months to become the Champions of Europe.

Die Roten faced Paris Saint-Germain in the CL final. The French club made it to the final for the first time in their history. The attacking trio of Angel Di Maria, Neymar Jr, and Kylian Mbappe had caused havoc in the previous round. Bayern were favourites, but PSG had a good number of match-winners in the squad.

Despite the threat of PSG’s dynamic attacking trio, Flick stuck with the style of play that helped the team to reach the final. They dominated the French Champions and showed a great level of game management after getting the lead in the second half. Flick’s tactical nous and quality of players helped Bayern to finally conquer Europe after coming agonisingly close in the last six seasons.
