Young Player of the season- Alphonso Davies

There is only one outstanding candidate for this award, and that is Alphonso Davies. The Canadian winger has enjoyed a breakthrough season at Bayern in the most unlikely position. As the season went on, Davies got better and made the left-back position his own.

Davies began the campaign with the reserves season. He was expected to get few games in the first team, but the majority of his playing time was expected to come in the second team. However, an injury crisis in defense forced Kovac to deploy Davies in the left-back position and move David Alaba in central defense.

The teenager initially looked erratic in this position, but he showed a great deal of improvement with more playing time. His immense pace allowed to make recovery challenges and stop some of the best wide forwards in the wide forwards. Going ahead, his decision making has also shown improvement. He can get the best out of any defender in the world through his trickery and pace.

By the end of the campaign, Davies racked up 43 appearances across all competitions. He managed to score three goals and claim nine assists in these appearances. Die Roten has secured his future by handing him a new contract in April. Davies is just getting started. He has the potential to become a legend in Bavaria by playing in the left-back position for the next decade. (Stats courtesy: Transfermarkt)
