Bayern Munich boasts best midfield in the world- Player Grades
Corentin Tolisso — 6/10
After recovering from a serious knee injury in ten months, Tolisso returned to action this campaign. Tolisso had a tough task of ousting other midfielders in the lineup. He struggled to get consistent playing time throughout the campaign, starting 15 games across all competitions. After the winter break, he found it very difficult to get a nod in the starting XI. Four goals and five assists across all competitions was decent output from Tolisso, but his overall performances lacked the edge that should give Flick a selection headache. Tolisso got minutes from the bench in the Champions League last month. He was heavily linked with a move away from the club this year, but the departures of Thiago and Martinez may prompt him to stay at the club. Nevertheless, Tolisso might remember this season for the treble, but individually it was a season to forget for him.
Mickael Cuisance — 6/10
Similar to Tolisso, Mickael Cuisance also had a difficult season in Bavaria. The young midfielder moved to Bayern from Borussia Monchengladbach last summer. He was signed after the departure of Renato Sanches to Lille. Cuisance was always going to find it difficult to get regular playing time in Munich due to the quality of midfielders at the club. The French midfielder got the majority of playing time with the reserves team.
Rekordmeister kept on insisting that Cuisance is a player for the future and praised him for working hard in training. After the lockdown, Cuisance got more playing time as Flick shuffled the lineup for the last few games of the Bundesliga campaign. He also scored his first competitive goal for the club. Cuisance would get more playing time next season if Bayern doesn’t sign midfielders to replace Thiago and Martinez. It was a tough campaign for Cuisance, but he showed some flashes of brilliance that bodes well for the future.
