Bayern Munich managed to win all major trophies with emphatic performances. They dominated some of the best teams in Europe and coasted to wins against weaker sides. Dominating possession and making things happen in the final third this season was largely due to the club’s midfield department.

The midfield department will see few changes this year since a couple of senior players are set to leave. However, throughout the last campaign, Die Roten had the perfect mix of different profiles in the midfield.

Depending on the game situation, Hansi Flick had effective options in the squad. There was a perfect mix of steel, passion, and guile in the midfield setup. Winning the treble last season was the testament to the incredible depth in the midfield options.

Flick decided to stick with 4-2-3-1 formation throughout the second half of the season. Thomas Muller slotted in the attacking midfield role, but he was taking up positions much higher up the pitch, similar to a second striker.
