Incredible cameo against Barcelona

It was poetic justice for Philippe Coutinho when he contributed to three goals in the second half cameo against Barcelona last month. The Brazilian was still gracious in his celebrations against his parent club that was eager to offload him last summer.

Die Roten were bossing the game against Barcelona in last month’s Champions League quarter-final when Coutinho arrived on the pitch. The German champions had one foot in the semi-final with a comfortable three-goal lead as the clock ticked off past 75 minutes.

Coutinho was deployed on the left-flank as Bayern looked to pile on the misery for the Spanish club. He delivered a pin-point cross for Robert Lewandowski for the sixth goal, putting the game beyond Barcelona’s reach. The Brazil international scored two quick goals in the dying minutes of the game to help Rekordmeister to record a historic result against Barcelona.

Delivering at the biggest stage against his parent club showed Coutinho’s strong mental strength. Throughout his time at Bavaria, he never spoke in media about being unhappy about less gametime, putting hard yards in training. The Brazilian got the rewards for hard work as he returns to Camp Nou as European Champion, the player who had put the icing on the cake for Die Roten in the Champions League humiliation of Barcelona.
