Three key players for Bayern Munich in the Champions League final
By Daniel Garza
#1 Robert Lewandowski
The star striker for Bayern has been nothing short of incredible during the 2019-20 Champions League season. His 15 goals lead all players in the competition, and entering this match he has the opportunity to make history if he can score three goals.
A hat-trick would put him ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo for the all-time record of goals scored in a single Champions League season. Ronaldo had scored 17 goals for Real Madrid during the 2013/14 campaign.
As a reliable striker, Lewandowski will need to be on the mark for the German Champions in this match. There’s a real opportunity for the Polish goalscorer to put pressure on PSG’s backline. PSG did not face a club with a prolific striker in the quarterfinals or semifinals. As a result, they might struggle to contain him in the penalty area.
On a personal level, Lewandowski can prove he was the best player in the world in the 2019-20 season if he can deliver for Die Roten in the final. He’s been by and far the best so far, and a Champions League title would make it hard to argue against him being the top player. The Ballon d’Or may have been canceled, but the football world will likely be in agreement Lewandowski was the best player if he can win the Champions League.
