Paris Saint-Germain: The undisputed Ligue 1 champions

Billion dollars’ worth of investment has helped PSG in securing seven league titles and five Coupe de France under the new ownership since 2011. A project that has seen big investment over the past decade has failed to deliver the cherished UEFA Champions League trophy. Thomas Tuchel, PSG’s fourth manager under QSI’s reign, is finally on the verge of yielding the eagerly awaited ROI on PSG’s books.

Akin to Hansi Flick, Tuchel is vying to accomplish a treble-winning season. Les Parisiens were crowned Ligue 1 champions after LFP’s ruling to wind-up the current season amidst an unprecedented coronavirus outbreak. Post the restart, PSG safely put the Coupe de France in their cabinet following a one-nil victory over Saint-Etienne.

With his second year in charge as PSG’s head coach, Tuchel has favoured the 4-3-3 format for the current campaign. A proponent of Ralf Ragnick’s school of thought, Tuchel likes to play his team on a possession-based template underpinned by the principles of pressing and counter-pressing.

PSG has one of the most venerated attacks in Europe. Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, and Angel Di Maria have contributed to 64 goals this season in Ligue 1. The trio now faces one of the best defenses in the Champions League finals. Will Manuel Neuer and his defensive shield endure a tough time or will Bayern crack open PSG’s lines to recreate the magic of 2013?
