Bayern Munich players show grit against Lyon-Player Ratings
Lewandowski continues to deliver in CL
ST, Robert Lewandowski — 8.5/10
Lewandowski added to his goal tally on Wednesday with a towering header from a pinpoint set-piece delivered by Kimmich in the dying minutes of the game. The Polish striker worked hard for the team and had some promising half chances to score throughout the game. His hold up play was superb as he helped in creating space for other forwards. Lewandowski has scored in every knockout game this season, so a goal in the final will be a fitting end for a remarkable individual season.
Substitutes
DEF, Niklas Sule — 6.5/10
Sule was preferred by Flick over Lucas Hernandez to replace Boateng at half time. The German defender is slowly integrated into the first team after being on sidelines for the last ten months. Apart from a slip that led to a big chance for Lyon, Sule didn’t put a foot wrong in the second half on Wednesday.
FWD, Kingsley Coman — 6.5/10
Coman came on for Perisic after the hour mark. He was busy in the final third, making promising runs and isolating full-back, but as usual, his end product was disappointing. On numerous occasions, he had the chance to create chances, but the final pass or cross let him down. He is unlikely to get the nod ahead of Perisic in the final against PSG.
FWD, Philippe Coutinho — 6.5/10
The Brazilian playmaker delivered a good performance in a 20-minute cameo against Lyon. He found himself in good positions in the final third. Got the ball into the back of the net, but it was correctly ruled out for offside. Considering Coutinho’s performances in the last two games, he is bound to have a big say in the final from the bench.
DEF, Benjamin Pavard — N/A
It was a big boost for Die Roten as Benjamin Pavard made his return against Lyon. The German defender got few minutes under his belt in the second half to build rhythm ahead of the final against PSG.
MID, Corentin Tolisso — N/A
Tolisso got the opportunity to feature against his former team, but he had very little time on the pitch to have a big impact on the game.
