Team News for Bayern Munich
Bayern received a big boost this week since Benjamin Pavard resumed training on the pitch. The French defender had suffered an ankle injury at the end of July. Pavard was included in the squad for knockout games, but he travelled to Lisbon at a later date. The Frenchman has completely recovered from the injury, but it remains to be seen whether he will be available for selection on Wednesday.
Niklas Sule got further playing time under his belt after featuring against Barcelona for 15 minutes. The German defender is slowly building his fitness after being out of action for more than ten months. He is unlikely to start soon, but he will keep on getting more minutes from the bench.
Kingsley Coman also made his return to action against Barcelona. The Frenchman missed the game against Chelsea at Allianz Arena due to a minor injury. Coman had recovered completely after training with the first team in Lisbon. Flick decided to stick with Ivan Perisic due to his positive performance against Chelsea.
Pavard’s return will mean that Flick will have a complete squad available for the first time during his tenure in Munich. The German champions have struggled with injuries in the latter stages of the Champions League for many years. The availability of so many options will help Flick to adapt depending on the game situation.
