Three key battles to watch out when Bayern Munich face Lyon on Wednesday.

After an action-packed week of quarterfinals, the attention shifts to the semi-finals of the Champions League. Germany and France reign supreme this year, with two teams from Bundesliga and Ligue 1 in the penultimate stage of the competitions. Bayern Munich will be coming up against high flying Lyon on Wednesday.

Die Roten sent shivers across Europe with a humungous 8-2 win against Barcelona.  The German champions showed ruthlessness throughout 90 minutes against the hapless Spanish giant. Hansi Flick got the tactics spot on to deliver yet another big performance against a top side.

Lyon has enjoyed a tremendous campaign in Europe after finishing seventh in curtailed Ligue 1 campaign. The French side defeated Juventus in the round of 16 on away goals. They were underdogs against Manchester City in the quarter-finals, but a valiant effort from the French team helped them in clinching 3-1 win against the English side.

Rekordmeister are clear favourites on Wednesday, but so were Juventus and Manchester City against Lyon. The French side has punched above their weight through grit and immense technical ability in their squad. Here are three individual duels to watch out on Wednesday when Die Roten will be looking to reach the finals for the first time since 2013.
