Four critical factors that will decide Bayern Munich’s fate in the Champions League.

The Champions League returns next week after a five-month break. Bayern Munich players are hungry for success after completing a domestic double under Hansi Flick. The players returned to Sabner Strasse last week to start preparing for the Champions League.

Die Roten will be hosting Chelsea in the second leg of the round of 16 tie next week. The German champions hold a comfortable 3-0 lead in this tie after delivering a commanding performance at Stamford Bridge in February. Chelsea has been in decent form lately, so the second leg will be competitive, but the hosts remain favourites to go through.

If the German champions see out Chelsea, then they will travel to Portugal for the rest of the games in the competition. There will be single knockout games in quarterfinals and semi-finals. It is going to be loads of hard work for Bayern since they have been handed a tricky road to the finals.

Flick has shown enough in the past nine months that he can set the team perfectly in big games. He is going to need similar tactical nous that he showed at Stamford Bridge to get a big result. With Die Roten and Flick chasing a treble, here are four critical factors that will have a big say in the club’s pursuit of CL title next month.
