Bayern Munich players show composure to win DFB Pokal on Saturday.

Manager Rating

Hansi Flick — 8/10

Hansi Flick reverted to his best starting XI for Bayern Munich against Bayer Leverkusen. The German manager also got his substitutes right in the second half, helping Die Roten to see out the game. Flick’s tactics were spot on as Die Roten never dropped the pressing intensity despite struggling to dominate possession throughout the game.

Player Ratings

GK, Manuel Neuer — 8/10

Manuel Neuer failed to keep a clean sheet, but his performance was not poor. He commanded the box well and could hardly do anything about two goals. Neuer’s distribution was top class, and he got an assist to his name in this game by playing a pinpoint long ball for Lewandowski’s first goal.

DEF, Benjamin Pavard — 7.5/10

Benjamin Pavard has been a consistent performer for Die Roten during his debut campaign. He showed the same level of consistency against Leverkusen. The Frenchman was not good going ahead, but he defended well and made some goal-saving interventions throughout the game.

DEF, Jerome Boateng — 7/10

Jerome Boateng also had a fairly decent outing against Leverkusen on Saturday. The German defender led the defensive line and made some important blocks. His passing was top-notch, as usual, helping the team to progress the play from the back.

DEF, David Alaba — 8/10

David Alaba rounded off an impressive campaign with a comfortable performance in central defense on Saturday. The Austrian defender was positionally sound, mopping potential counter-attacks from Leverkusen with ease. He showed his deadball expertise to open the scoring for Bayern with a well-taken freekick in the 16th minute. Hansi Flick will be desperate for Alaba to sign a new deal.

DEF, Alphonso Davies — 6.5/10

One of those rare days when Alphonso Davies had a below-average performance. He was astute defensively in the first half but struggled against Moussa Diaby in the second half. The French winger was getting the better of him on the left flank. Davies also ended up conceding a penalty in the second half as he handled the box in added time.
