Team News for Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich received an injury boost last weekend as Thiago Alcantara returned to complete training. The Spanish midfielder has missed the last three league games due to groin injury. He is set to be part of the matchday squad on Sunday, but unlikely to start the game.

Javi Martinez is set to miss the game against Leverkusen due to a calf injury. It is a shame that the Spaniard is missing this game since it could be his last DFB Pokal game for the club. He has been heavily linked with a move away from the club as Die Roten is unlikely to extend his contract, which expires next summer.

Niklas Sule is also set to be part of the squad. The German defender has completed recovery from a serious ankle injury that kept him out for more than eight months. Sule may get very few minutes on his comeback, though. The club will be looking to handle his return cautiously.

Philippe Coutinho made his return last weekend after missing more than a month of football action due to ankle injury. The Brazilian will be looking to get some minutes off the bench on Saturday to get back some match rhythm. Meanwhile, Corentin Tolisso will miss this game despite returning to the training on the pitch last week. The French midfielder is still a few weeks away from being completely fit.
