Young midfielder enjoys first goal for Bayern Munich

MID, Leon Goretzka — 7/10

Leon Goretzka is becoming the deepest midfielder under Flick. He had to play the same role on Saturday since Cuisance was deployed in the box to box midfield position. In the first half, Goretzka struggled to get the hold of the game, but he worked hard defensively when Wolfsburg were creating chances consistently. After the half-time whistle, Goretzka dictated the tempo of the game as Die Roten recycled the ball well. Slowly and steadily, Goretzka is adapting to the new role and delivering consistent performances.

MID, Mickael Cuisance — 8/10

Cuisance’s best performance in the Bayern shirt. The French midfielder started a bit deeper and operated as number eight rather than number ten in his previous two starts. Cuisance was relentless with pressing, and his passing was also efficient. He was showing grit in the midfield, winning the duels, and halting Wolfsburg’s momentum while going ahead. The 20-year-old midfielder rounded off a complete midfield performance by scoring his first Bundesliga goal in the first half by curling the ball past Casteels from the edge of the box. The French midfielder also won the penalty in the second half by showing some tidy footwork in the box. A promising game for the young French midfielder.
