Squad rotation becomes key for Bayern Munich

Hansi Flick has stuck to a set starting XI this year, which was one of the key reasons for Die Roten to win the Bundesliga this season. However, this approach does come with a caveat. Fringe players are happy with Flick’s management, but they will reach a point where playing time will become their priority.

The German manager will have to find a middle ground where he rotates the squad in a way that gives fringe players an ample amount of opportunities and doesn’t disturb the dynamics of the style of play. Moreover, healthy competition will be more driven due to healthy competition in the squad.

Top clubs have depth in every position, and Die Roten is also aiming to achieve that. Manchester City is one of the prime examples of a powerful squad with quality depth in every position. Die Roten does have quality players in multiple positions, but poor squad rotation may force players to look for a move away from the club.

Flick took the role at the halfway point in the season, so he was only focussing on getting instant results. It helped the team and improved his chances of getting the role permanently. He has achieved both targets. His next target should be managing the squad more efficiently and see the bigger picture to maintain harmony in the squad. An efficient rotation policy next year will be even more important since players will get very little rest to be ready for next season.
