Bayern Munich players enjoy comfortable outing against Freiburg.
Manager Rating
Hansi Flick — 7/10
Flick tweaked the formation for Bayern Munich, but still found a way to control the tempo of the game. The German manager got the lineup right, allowing some fringe players to shine and also encouragement for youth players by giving them a taste of the first-team action. Good to see him experimenting with the team without compromising results.
Player Ratings
GK, Sven Ulreich — 8/10
Ulreich got his first start of the season on Tuesday. The German shot-stopper showed no rustiness and delivered a fairly decent performance. His distribution was good, but he doesn’t command the area like Neuer. He could hardly do anything for the goal conceded by Die Roten. However, he made a terrific one vs one save at the end of the game to deny Freiburg another consolation goal.
DEF, Benjamin Pavard — 7/10
A fairly comfortable afternoon for Pavard. The French defender was comfortable while defending and was much more adventurous while going forward. He has been the most consistent player for Bayern in the defense, rounding off a good season with a decent performance in the final home game of the season.
DEF, Javi Martinez — 7/10
Javi Martinez has most likely played the last home game for Bayern Munich on Saturday. The Spaniard has become a fringe player in the current squad, but he got a deserved start against Freiburg. He looked composed in central defense and was hardly troubled throughout the game.
DEF, Jerome Boateng — 7/10
Overall, Boateng had a good game against Freiburg, but he left Lucas Holer unmarked for the goal. Apart from that error, the German defender was flawless on Saturday afternoon. His wide range of passing was on display as he sprayed passes from deep for Die Roten forwards.
DEF, Lucas Hernandez — 8/10
Lucas Hernandez enjoyed his best performance in the Bayern shirt on Saturday. The French defender started in the left-back position since Alphonso Davies was suspended. Along with being solid defensively, Hernandez also found himself in very good positions. A very smart assist for Lewandowski’s second goal as he drilled a low cross in the box. This performance should help in boosting Hernandez’s confidence.
