Bayern Munich: Top five player transfers in 21st century
Willy Sagnol- Mr. Consistent in defense for Bayern Munich
The final and fifth player on this list is former first-team coach Willy Sagnol. It may feel that the Frenchman played for the club long time ago, but he joined Die Roten in 2000 from Monaco for €7 million. Sagnol went on to stay at the club for nine years.
Sagnol cemented the right-back position in the starting XI, becoming a consistent performer for Die Roten during his time at the club. The Frenchman was a vital member of the team that won the Champions League in 2000 against Valencia.
The Frenchman makes this list for his consistency and relatively meagre transfer fee Die Roten paid for his services. Sagnol struggled with injuries in the last few seasons, but he still managed to play an important role in winning five Bundesliga titles.
In his nine-year stay at the club, Sagnol made 277 appearances across all competitions. Sagnol was particularly good in the final third as he racked up 50 assists from the right-back position. His time as the first-team coach under Carlo Ancelotti was short-lived, but as a player, Sagnol left a remarkable legacy at the club. (Stats and Transfer fee courtesy: Transfermarkt)
