Manuel Neuer- The Wall for Bayern Munich

Die Roten used the two-month break to secure the future of important players. Manuel Neuer was one of the players that penned a new contract, pledging their future to the club. There was speculation surrounding his future, but he squashed it by signing this deal.

Neuer joined Bayern in 2011 for €28 million from Schalke. The German goalkeeper was attracting interest from top clubs due to his performances in the Bundesliga and Champions League. In Neuer, Die Roten got a play that went on to redefine the art of goalkeeping, effectively becoming a sweeper keeper.

When the German international goalkeeper joined Die Roten, he was a phenomenal shot-stopper, one who dominated forwards with his big frame and confidence. Neuer was also particularly good at stopping penalties. The German also helped in building the play from the back as his passing was crisp. He played a vital role in helping the team to win multiple silverware

Under Pep Guardiola, Neuer’s game improved significantly, becoming a crucial player in the first phase. He won goalkeeper of the year multiple times. Neuer has made 384 appearances till now. He has a big role to play in the coming years on and off the pitch. It was a record fee for a German goalkeeper at that time, but he has surely justified the amount comfortably.
