Franck Ribery- Magician on left flank

Die Roten embarked on a new era when they agreed to a deal with Marseille to sign Franck Ribery in 2007. As per Transfermarkt, the German club paid a fee close to €18 million for the French winger. It can be easily said that money was well spent on Ribery.

An illustrious 12-year stay in Bavaria followed after Ribery moved from France. He dominated on the left flank, taking on full-back and delivering dangerous balls in the box. Ribery played a key role in the treble season, contributing heavily in the final third, which eventually helped him to be on the podium of UEFA player of the year awards and BallonD’or awards.

Despite struggling with injuries in the final few seasons at the club, Ribery ended up making 425 appearances for the club across all competitions. In these appearances, he managed to 306 goal contributions, which is a staggering stat. Ribery spent his peak years at the club, contributing to the multiple silverware.

The Frenchman played under numerous managers throughout his time at Bayern. Despite changing playing style or philosophies, Ribery was always a threat in the attack for the German club. Leaving the club at the age of 36, winning all possible trophies, Ribery managed to justify his price tag by a canter. (Stats courtesy: Transfermarkt)
